About the PTA
What is PTA?
The PTA is a group where parents, teachers, administrators and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education for our children and support Cora Kelly. Any parent, neighbor or family member can join. Our school chapter is connected to the Alexandria City, Virginia State and National PTAs.
What do I have to do?
Joining PTA is simple. Fill out the membership envelope and pay annual dues of $5 per membership which includes your local, state and national PTA dues.
I’m really busy with my job and can’t volunteer at school, should I still join?
YES, as a member, you do not have to volunteer or attend meetings. But we encourage you to participate in any way you can.
More than 30 years of research shows that children do better when their parents and families are involved at home and at school. PTA is a great way to meet other families and get to know the principals and teachers better.
What does Cora Kelly PTA do?
We hold monthly meetings (usually the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.) at the school, featuring guest speakers, special programs and school updates. PTA also sponsors, or helps the school with:

- Afterschool activities
- Annual Scholastic Book Fair
- Thanksgiving Day Food Baskets
- International Night
